The air-gap method
How SyncAnalyt verifies cold balances without bridging private keys to a live network — and what you prepare before walking in.
Principle
An air gap, in our practice, means your private keys and recovery material never enter a machine we control, never appear on a shared screen, and never travel through our forms or email. Public addresses and the figures you already wrote down are enough to reconcile.
What “monitoring” means here
We do not run a continuous watchtower on your coins. Monitoring means scheduled or requested human sessions that refresh your offline understanding of balances. Between sessions, silence is intentional.
Steps we follow in every reconciliation
- Scope on paper. You mark which address clusters are in play today.
- Public lookup on our side. We fetch public totals on research hardware that never receives seeds.
- Your offline figures stay yours. You read from your notebook or device account labels; we do not type keys.
- Discrepancy marking. Differences are written, not debated into oblivion.
- Close with a dated sheet. You leave with something you can file beside the device.
What you prepare
- A list of public addresses (or xpubs only if you already understand the privacy trade-offs and still prefer them)
- Prior balance notes with dates
- Device names or labels — not unlock codes
- Questions you want answered before the hour ends
What we refuse
Any request that requires importing a seed, connecting your hardware wallet to our machines, or photographing recovery cards. If your goal needs those steps, we will say so and decline.
When to book which session
